- When did you start dedicating yourself to the world of contemporary jewelry?
I have been interested in the study, development, project and production of jewels for several years and that gained strength inside me right after I started the Design course at PUC Goiás, mainly because of their project, methodology, bionic analysis, material and technology, ergonomy and other specific knowledge which structures a design project. Studies about the analysis of product life also gave the necessary support in my project.
- What do you take inspiration from when you start creating a new collection?
I chose to work with jewels as design products mainly because I believe they can be more than just ornaments. A collection of jewels can translate a history and concepts rooted in the identity and personality. Fauna and flora elements together with the Brazilian culture have always been references in my projects. The concern about the concept and the way of expression, as well as the care with the project and the execution, confirming in a contemporary way the importance of the Brazilian cultural value.
- What kind of work or material do you prefer?
Jewels to dress up. The nature richness presented in the body shapes is a great tool in my work. Many of my pieces of jewels provide new ways to wear them, involving arms, shoulders, chest and back, covering and valuing these parts ´contours with diversity and also allowing freedom to wear them according to the wearer´s clothing or mood. There has been a constant search for new materials and responsible techniques. The sustainability is essential for the design project´s development. The study and the commitment to reduce environment impacts are absolutely essential in all and any design project. That was what led my work and still does.
- What are your points of reference in the world of contemporary jewelry and art?
I am delighted with the diversity of ways of expression and contemporary art’s support, as well as the design’s precepts and some of its great representatives.
- Three words with which you would describe the Artistar Jewels project.
Professional, relevant and innovative.
- What do you think of the jewels that were on show this year? Have you been fascinated by any particular creation?
All jewels have their own particularities and they were surely presented in a brilliant way.
- How would you define the atmosphere created on the 22nd and 23rd February nights of Artistar Jewels 2018?
Exciting, elegant and surprising.
- Would you recommend to other artists to take part in Artistar Jewels?
Yes, I would certainly recommend it to other artists because the Project Artistar Jewels is an excellent project which gives important opportunities and visibility to artists from all around the world. And the people who are responsible for it are very professional, attentive and friendly.
- What were the services / opportunities that most pushed you to participate in the event?
The gathering of different points of view with great cultural diversity about a presented theme is, without a doubt, very enriching. Sharing my work and also being part of this event, in which the exposition and publication were exquisite, was very motivational, as well as the visibility, the marketing and the global communication.
