- When did you start dedicating yourself to the world of contemporary jewelry?
It was when just before I graduate my jewellery degree at University, I started discovering many intriguing aspects in use of materials. Since then, I have been enjoying challenging and discovering my personal interest within my creativity through wearable object forms.
- What do you take inspiration from when you start creating a new collection?
My inspiration often comes from an attractive word I find. As English is my second language, I often think of deeper meaning behind some words. For example, I was in Louvre museum, there were a painting showing very inspiring historical moment. In the part of title I found “Exoticism” and this word actually lead me to many aspects of creations within my designs. There are many words like that in English and as well as Japanese.
- What kind of work or material do you prefer?
In the past, I enjoyed working with resin and combine with structures made with silver because I liked working with artificial colours. Currently I prefer working with precious metal and gemstones as I spend more time in construction, I want the piece to last for a long time.
- Three words with which you would describe the Artistar Jewels project.
Powerful, Inspiring, quality.
- What do you think of the jewels that were on show this year? Have you been fascinated by any particular creation?
It was so nice to see such diverse collections of jewellery made with passion. There were so many fascinating pieces and especially the works shows the mutuality with skills, knowledge and ideas was what I enjoyed to see in this show.
- How would you define the atmosphere created on the 22nd and 23rd February nights of Artistar Jewels 2018?
Fancy!
- Would you recommend to other artists to take part in Artistar Jewels?
Yes I’d like to but only if they are at the stage to be able to afford the participation fee.
- What were the services / opportunities that most pushed you to participate in the event?
This was my family vacation first time together in Italy so the event was such great opportunity and experience for us as we were totally tourists! Though, this show was the reason why we decided to travel to Italy so thank you so much!
