Interviewing Rohit Jain

Rohit Jain
India

The artists leads into a world of immense possibilities, where he constantly craves for a change. He lets his mind wander into uncharted territories, to explore, invent and to create beautiful and precious creations. He is a fifth generation jeweller and has extensive experience working with top retailers in India and Middle East.

- What is the name of your brand and what's the meaning behind it?
My name "ROHIT JAIN" is my brand name. Not much of a significance added to its meaning while deciding the brand name.

- Where do you take inspiration from when you start creating a new collection?
I love 'change' & hate repetitions, because as humans we are built to excel, create & push boundaries. I just prepare my mind, with deep focus, let it wander until I am satisfied with the creation that I have in my mind. This process lasts for hours & days at times.

- What kind of work or material or technique do you prefer to use?
I started with Gold because that is what my team & I had expertise in, along with coloured diamonds because I love them, owing to their uniqueness. Now I keep pushing new boundaries with materials & have worked on some innovative stone settings. I will never follow the convention & want to innovate constantly in techniques & designs.

- Three words with which you would describe the Artistar Jewels project.
Amazing, Creative & World class.

- Have you been fascinated by any particular creation you saw in the Artistar jewels 2019 edition?
Many in fact, difficult to name one.

- What were the opportunities that most pushed you to participate in the event?
To exhibit at a global platform in one of the fashion capitals of the world & to see the work of other contemporary designers for inspiration.

- What do you think about the upcoming Milano Jewelry Week? Do you think Milano needed it?
Milano Jewellery Week is a good initiative and its always good to experiment & keep pushing.
