LAURA VISENTIN CONTEMPORARY JEWELS
Italy
She approached contemporary jewelry a few years ago, driven by the need to create pieces capable of expressing her character and personality. The spring element of her creations is her stylistic code. Laura attended in-depth courses on techniques at the famous Alchimia School of Florence.
- When did you start dedicating yourself to the world of contemporary jewelry?
I started to dedicate myself to contemporary jewelry from 2012, a period in which the latent passion for the world of research jewelry pushed me to deepen my knowledge through courses at the Alchimia School of Florence and workshops at the Studio of designer Carla Riccoboni. Since I was a child I followed my father sculptor in the creation of bronze and silver fusion works of art, combined with various minerals and I think it is to be attributed to this early immersion in art in general the need to make this passion work.
- What do you draw most inspiration from when you start creating a new collection?
In creating a new collection I love being inspired by the combination of practicality and elegance that contemporary woman embodies. I am impressed by the personality that manages to blend harmonious femininity, attention to detail and essentiality in a harmonious way. Simplicity and balance but, sometimes, with some hint of madness. It is for these women that my collections are born.
- What kind of work or material do you prefer?
In my creations I combine springs in steel and bronze to silver. An industrial product such as springs, small steel spirals, with multiple technical applications have revealed unprecedented expressive potential: I began to join them, weave them, smooth them, weld them, transforming a semi-finished product into a fundamental material of my creativity: experience has shown possibility of creating jewels that can give the mechanics an aesthetic value. The "spring" element has become like this, in my creations an essential constituent aspect, both concretely and as an idea, sometimes able to give an emotion, to reveal also in whom the geography of a soul wears it.
- Three words with which you would describe the Artistar Jewels project.
The project Artistar Jewels I would define: Captivating, Selective, Current
- What do you think of the jewels that were on show this year? Have you been fascinated by any particular creation?
I had participated a few years ago in the Artistar project but, I must say, the 2018 edition was really interesting and full of innovative proposals with the aim of giving space to a new and original concept of contemporary jewelry. It always amazes me and fascinates me the personal interpretation, the great creative capacity and the vision of each artist.
- What were the services / opportunities that most pushed you to participate in the event?
What motivated me to take part in the Artistar edition 2018 project was the enhancement that has been given to contemporary jewelery from the premise. I was very interested in the opportunity to participate in a contest that, to those who have been selected, will offer the opportunity to present their work in prestigious areas.
