NIIRO jewelry CV | Rosana Raljević Ceglar (also known as Niiro), a jewelry designer  born in Pula /Croatia but currently located in Slovenia. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. She moved to Slovenia in 2000. and started her own graphic and design studio. On her return she also started experimenting with knitting wires in order to create jewelry pieces, what inspired her was the nature around, the organic structures and the micro-cosmos within each piece of nature she could find. This is how her first collection named ‘Entangled’ started coming together. Her work soon evolved into using more and more irregular shapes, the applied techniques improved and gave her the possibility to develop something never seen in jewelry design. “My enthusiasm about the fact that you can create jewelry statement pieces by using a very irregular and random looking knitting process which seem so perfect and neat, just as nature itself”. She think even though we live in a chaotic world, nature’s perfection is the solution and no matter how simple the things you work with are, in every piece of nature there is a en enormous potential. WORK DESCRIPTION | Collections of handmade body adornments are marked by the innovativeness of irregularly patterned knitting, sparkling, colourfulness, and genuineness and uniqueness of the material used. The manual process of creating each and every piece of jewelry is inductive and the only consistent feature is the filigree-like wire interlacing into a unique knitwork. Each and every piece of handmade jewelry is distinct, with the unifying motif being knitted. Not only the design, but also the structure is inspired by natural forms and textures, which gives the jewelry an impression of a tidy chaos. Even though the products keep their model line similarities, the irregularly patterned knitting filling their forms is unique. Due to the translucency of the materials, the jewelry might appear fragile and light, but to the touch they are compact and durable. The supple silver and copper wire maintains the form and imbues the pieces with a sophisticated extravagance. The industrial materials, which were originally devoid of aesthetic appeal, take on a new life that gives the jewelry an added value, since it introduces that innovative freshness followed by a contemporary design approach. In contrast to the materials used for the production of classic jewelry, the additional use of the seeming limitations imposed by the colour, texture and form of an industrial raw material is exactly the supplement that speaks to our postmodern times.
