Daniela Di Cecco brings back the ancient goldsmith tradition to Palena after many years.    In fact, artistic craftsmanship was flourishing in Palena until the Unification of Italy: after that date, the numerous local companies, operating in the most diverse sectors, closed due to competition from other companies in Northern Italy.  Daniela Di Cecco started her business, with great youthful courage, first in Via IV Novembre and, now, in Via Trento e Trieste in Palena.    About her Her jewels    The jewels of her creation, sketched, drawn and designed have great artistic value: original in shapes and themes, personalized by her modern and futuristic ideas, as she proves herself: an eclectic artist who manages to shape gold and filigree forcing them to materialize according to his ideas.    Among her most original productions is the \"pincio\", i.e. the processing of roof tiles, chiseled or decorated with other elements which are part of earrings, bracelets etc. In her symbolism she wants to be the protection of the house from every external factor.    The watermark    What about the filigree workmanship? Palena today is the town of orchids, but she has already introduced this floral element into her production for many years, together with many other flowers existing on the Maiella, enhancing and making their beauties even more precious.    She also participates, occasionally and in accordance with her own artisanal production needs, in fairs and traveling events, where she brings her own artistic flair, offering it to the public in an elegant way.    I reached Daniela Di Cecco in her laboratory in Palena and she gave me the following exclusive interview.        Exclusive interview with Daniela Di Cecco who talks about her experience in the goldsmith art sector    Why did you choose the goldsmith\'s art?    Since I was little, when I played with children, I made paper rings and wore them, but I didn\'t yet know the existence of this job...    Since when have you been practicing this artistic form?    I have been in business since 1999 but I started practicing with courses at the age of 14.    The artistic life of Daniela Di Cecco    Tell us a little about your artistic life…    Life as an artist is made up, at least mine, of many sacrifices because often what is achieved is not equivalent to the value that a normal person is able to give to the jewel, therefore this work is often done out of passion and not simply for profit... The the greatest gift is the satisfaction that the customer gives you when he is grateful for the work done that you give him and when you see him proudly wearing your creation.    How is a jewel of yours born?    The creation is born first from an idea which is reported in a drawing, with different variations, after which the metal is melted and from the simple ingot wires of various thicknesses and sheets are created which are worked following the techniques of Italian goldsmithing.    Which jewel of hers gave you the most satisfaction?    The Abruzzo sciaquajje (in Palenese dialect: squaje ed.) are the jewel that perhaps I love the most also because I make them all completely by hand with details and designs also suggested by the customer.    The goldsmith\'s art in Palena    You know that the goldsmith\'s art in Palena dates back to the Middle Ages and that the last family of goldsmith artists was that of the De Vitis. Do you have any information on this matter and have they ever spoken to you about these aspects of local history?    Yes, I\'ve done a lot of research on all this. There were five families of jewelers and goldsmiths, they often bring me artefacts made by them to be repaired where I can see the goldsmith manufacturing dating back to that era and the grade of metal that they used.    Do you participate in jewelry exhibitions and fairs and if not, why?    Yes, I participated in fairs and exhibitions up to two years ago.    Have you noticed any interest from young people in your business?    The thing that makes me happiest is the interest young people have in this work. They often like to give unique handmade pieces rather than the mass-produced ones found on the market.    What plans do you have for the future?    I would like to pass on my craft to new generations who love this art
